Gujarat: Tax practitioners want simpler GST

Tax practitioners under the aegis of the National Action Committee (NAC) of GST Professionals will conduct a protest in over 300 districts of the country demanding simpler Goods and Services Tax (GST) and ease of compliance. They claim that it is over 16 months after the rollout of GST in the country and teething troubles, instead of decreasing, are actually on a rise Accordingly, will submit a memorandum of demands at collector offices in about 300 districts of the country and then go to offices of commissioners of Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST). They claim that procedures and compliance are complicated for which businessmen have to devote more time rather than focusing on growing their business and things have come to a stage when it is necessary to draw attention of the government to the larger situation on the ground. We are not able to file returns on time as the portal for filing returns is dysfunctional at times, especially when the deadline for filing returns is drawing closer. This issue is being faced every month and across India, said Axat Vyas.
